Restored in the late nineteenth century, the teachings of Lord Caitanya, by then largely had been falsified or were lost. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote nearly a hundred books explaining the science of Krishna Consciousness, unmasking pseudo incarnations of God, and defeated misconceptions about the path of devotional service. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura was an active preacher and legislator Judge in Jagannatha Puri, Orissa, and the father of ten children. One of these children was Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, founder of the Gaudiya Matha and spiritual master Srila Prabhupada.
He wrote many books of poetry and philosophy, as Saranagati and Jaiva Dharma, as well as comments on the Bhagavad-gita and Chaitanya Charitamrita. In 1896 he sent his book "Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu: His Life and Precepts" at various universities around the world.
