"The sage Vasishtha replied, 'Oh Lord Rama, Oh Lord whose intelligence is so keen, just remember his name can cross the ocean of the material world. You asked me to benefit all of humanity and fulfill everyone's wishes. Now I will describe that day of fasting which purifies worldwide.
"'Oh Rama, that day is known as Vaisakha-shukla Ekadasi, which falls on DvAdasii. It removes all sins and is famous as Mohini Ekadasi. NOTE
"'Truly, my God Rama, the merit of this Ekadasi frees the fortunate soul who observes it from the network of illusion. Therefore, if you want to relieve their suffering (s), observe this auspicious Ekadasi perfectly, since removes all obstacles in the way '' and relieves the greatest miseries. "'On the banks of the Sarasvati river once was a beautiful city named Bhadravati, which was ruled by King Dyutiman. Oh Rama, that king was firm, sincere, and very intelligent, born in the dynasty of the Moon (Chandra-vamsa ). In his reign there was a merchant named Dhanapala, who possessed a large amount of food grains and money. It was also very pious. "Unfortunately, his son Dhrstabuddhi always engaged in greatly sinful, like sleeping with prostitutes and associating with similar degraded persons activities. He enjoyed illicit sex, gambling and many other varieties of acts intended to gratify the senses. He disrespected the demigods (devas), the brahmins, the ancestors and elders of the community as well as guests of the family. The Dhrstabuddhi was bad heart and spent his father's wealth indiscriminately, always gave a feast with food and drank Untouchables alcohol.
"'One day Dhanapala kicked Dhrstabuddhi and out of the house after he saw him walking down the street holding arm with a known prostitute. Thereafter all Dhrstabuddhi relatives were highly critical of him and distanced themselves from he. Having sold all of its inherited ornaments and become destitute, the prostitute also abandoned him and insulted by their poverty.
"'Dhrstabuddhi was now full of anxiety, and also hungry thought." What should I do? Where should I go? How I can support myself? "Then he began to steal. Sheriffs King was arrested, but when they found out who he was, and that his father was the famous Dhanapala, they released him. He was captured and released so many times. But at last, tired of . his arrogance and lack of respect for others, and the theft of their property, the surly Dhrstabuddhi was arrested, handcuffed, and then beaten After whipping, marshals King warned: "Oh a poorly thought! "'But Dhrstabuddhi was released from his tribulation by his father and immediately thereafter entered the dense forest. He wandered here and there, hungry and thirsty and suffering greatly. Eventually he began killing the jungle animals , lions, deer, wild boars, wolves and even for food. Always ready in his hand was his bow, always on his shoulder was his quiver full of arrows. They also killed many birds, such as chakoras, peacocks, kankas, pigeons and pigeons. He unhesitatingly sacrifice many species of birds and animals to maintain his sinful life, accumulating more and more sinful results every day. Instant mind Dhrstabuddhi was released from his ignorance, and his sinful reactions were reduced. Offering his humble obeisances to Kaundinya Muni, Dhrstabuddhi prayed to him with folded hands, "Oh great brahmana, please describe to me some acts of atonement can be done without too much effort. I have committed many sins in my life, and these have now made me very badly. "
"'The great rishi replied," Oh son, listen with great attention, listen your life will change, and you become free from all your sins that remain. During the fortnight of this month, Vaisakha (April-May) the sacred Mohini Ekadasi, which has the power to nullify sins as big and important as Mount Sumeru occurs. "'Hearing these words with great joy, Dhrstabuddhi agreed to comply with Mohini Ekadasi fasting according to instructions and direction wise. Oh best of kings, Oh Ramachandra Bhagavan, by fasting completely Mohini Ekadasi, Dhrstabuddhi delete your sinful life, the prodigal son of the merchant Dhanapala, became sinless. Lord Sri Krishna concluded, "... and so, Oh Yudhisthira, there is a place of pilgrimage, sacrifice and charity that can bestow merit equal or even one sixteenth of the merit a faithful devotee mio obtained by observing the Mohini Ekadasi.
