Srila Prabhupada takes sannyasa at age 63 (Mathura, 1959) and in 1975 completed The Nectar of Instruction (in Vrindavan).
Renouncing family life, Srila Prabhupada accepted sannyasa order of life of renunciation, Sri Srimad Bhakti Vijnana Goswami Kesava Maharaja in Mathura, India.
In 1950 Srila Prabhupada retired from married life, adopted vanaprastha order of life, to devote more time to his studies and writing. He traveled to the holy city of Vrndavana, where he lived in humble circumstances in the historic temple of Radha-Damodara. There he devoted several years to the deep study and writing. Soon he accepted the renounced order of life, sannyasa, Mathura in 1959.
The "AC" the beginning of its name "Abhay Charanaravinda" is the name given to him at the start of his spiritual master. This means: "Someone who is brave to the lotus feet of Krishna" Later he was awarded the title "Bhaktivedanta" to denote their devotion "bhakti" and his understanding of the conclusion of spiritual knowledge. He received the title "Swami" which means: "The controller of the senses" in 1959 when he accepted sannyasa.
Finally, the title "Prabhupada" is a term of high honor which means "one who serves God's feet."
